In 1985, New York-based relased Anthrax Spreading the Disease. Stark from Iron Maiden and their manager Jon and Marsha Zazula former band Metallica, Anthrax Thrash influences combined rhythymic sensibilities with melodic vocals and riffs born directly out of Punk.

rhythm guitarist Scott Ian laid the groundwork for a plate of metallic rhtythym down picking through all his rhythyms as Hetfield of Metallica, while you add the skin with the thumb on the thickness and texture to the reef. Singer Joey Belladonna was the only man of the party, but offered melodic and diverse voices, while the breathtaking rhythm tandem of Charlie Benante Frank Bello and the framework for Ian and Dan Spitz guitar subtleties.

The album starts with “AI R”, which would become a brand with Anthrax abbreviations for songs. “Lone Justice”, “Medusa” and “The Enemy” All Iron Maiden use the formula of popular literature, mythology and history of song topics. The difference is Anthrax perform with virtuoso speed and precision, with lead guitarist Dan Spitz ripping solos yet unconventional melodic complement to the rich vocals of Belladona and punk backing vocals from Ian.

“Medusa” is simply an epic metal anthem with a classic riffs and song inspired by Belladona. “Armed and Dangerous” begins with an ethereal and majestic picked up short sides only develop in a straight adrenaline blast of Thrash. “Aftershcok” is an energetic and Thrasher “AI R” is an unforgettable opening riff and great vocals by Bella Donna. Anthrax had almost reached the peak of their abilities with this album and the debut of singer Joey Belladonna. This is a thrash album that is now as thin as much concerned with the production, but is technically brilliant. In 1985 it was Atlantic Records biggest thrash band and a milestone in production for the speed metal and thrash bands during this time. Antrhrax went on the album with their masterpiece, “Among The Living”, but to exceed “Spreading The Disease” has long been recognized as a major and devastating thrash album that should not be overlooked.

This album was recorded when (1985) bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Dio and Ozzy Osbourne were the reigning Champs of Heavy Metal, and the other bands as Bon Jovi, Ratt and Dokken, do not want to have nothing to heavy metal fans . do Then came new bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax and the really heavy sound, but had by this time, if you had heard of them, it was probably in college radio, or a friend had one of their albums. “Spreading the Disease” is the second album from Anthrax and premiered Joe Belladonna on vocals. This is a first “thrash” albums on a major label made, although not their breakthrough album, it is a seed and standard as metal is played today. dated now a little in 1998, and anthrax has put disappointing efforts lately I have heard is still a desire, such as jams, “Madhouse,” “Aftershock” Medusa “and my favorite,” SSC stand or fall. “If you some preety good vintage Thrash listen, hear and / or buy this CD.

Spreading The Disease Anthrax’s “finest hour. From the near-thrash” AIR “to the grinding riffs and hooks of” Madhouse “, the all-out speed metal of” Gung-Ho “Spreading The Disease in a relentless classic. Joey Bella Donna gives the album something was missing her debut – are a strong sense of melody with the grinding power. Anthrax never really tried it back style, and although most of their material that followed was very good, they do not have this album the quality and consistency (although Sound of White Noise came close vote). Not a speed metal album, STD is still a very serious “Power Metal” album. And a big help. – (And if you like this, I also recommend Armored Saint’s Symbol of salvation and jetsam flotsam CUATRO’s and CD’s HIGH)

People will say again and again how well among the living, and how it is better than all the Anthrax album. In my opinion this is wrong!
This is one of the best thrash albums released with vocals can be heard. Not only that, but possessed anthrax from 1985 to 1992 one of the greatest singers of the genre: Joey Belladonna. And that’s why this album is the biggest anthrax release, because this was recorded only on the stage in their career if they perfectly fused British Metal with Hardcore and thrash the sound. Check out Joey’s vocals on “AI R”, “Lone Justice,” “The Enemy”, which all amazing songs, and the highlights for me. Other highlights are “Madhouse,” “Gung Ho” and the amazing “Medusa”, which is sooooo cool. This album has it’s rush, and the musicianship is in top form, so you should buy this album Metal Heads! This should be a classic, make it one now by buying

As a big fan of how I was Among the Living and Persistence of Time, I was not immediately drawn to this album. I can not really imagine why, but I did not check out the trouble file until a friend of mine bought a copy. I heard that with him, and was very impressed. This album can not quite fit either ATL or pot, but it is still of very high quality, and quite different from either, which makes it have more than worth it.

This album is significantly less than their thrashy next few albums. It is much more a feeling NWOBHM Iron Maiden with an obvious influence lost. Honestly, it just qualifies as a thrash album. But despite stylistic differences, their talent is already visible. Charlie is already a first rate thrash drummer, with lots of energy and beautiful use of double bass, bass, and newcomer Bello’s presence makes it known, in contrast to most other thrash bassists out there. Ian’s rhythm guitar is not tight or sharp as it would be, but it is much more melodic and still can thrash it quite efficient. Bella Donna’s vocals are melodic as they would later. He is a bit over the top sometimes, but that’s okay, especially in connection with more lighthearted feel of the album.

In the next few albums Anthrax’s lyrics became increasingly heavier and darker. On the spread of the disease, but they are almost completely unencumbered without significant or not. This would not work for every thrash band or album, but it works here, and make for an album that really is more fun, then hear other high quality thrash albums. This is even more hook-driven then just about every other thrash album I’ve ever heard. Fortunately, they almost always have, and just about every track has a nice melodic and instantly memorable chorus. (And a nice pre-chorus and much of the time)

The big standout on this album is Lone Justice. Nameless catchy, but with the riffs to make it back on. AIR is a classic opener with all the energy that brings such a title with him. The closer Gung-Ho is probably the thrashiest thing here with an absolutely ridiculous and an excellent main riff copmletely, but still very pleasant Chorus / Pre-Chorus. The Enemy breaks the mood of the album, because it is a very serious-minded song about Hitler / Holocaust, etc. It still works, although it is certainly not the best thing here. Stand or fall and After Shock are the relative weaknesses, but they are still some solid early Thrash. Finally, while the rest of the songs do not stand up to some of the stronger material on the album, the intoduction to Armed & Dangerous is just great, perhaps the best part of the album. Great Vox from Joey. Many of melodrama, perhaps, but also lead.

Anthrax was one of the best thrash acts at all, and this is one of their classic albums. Get it.
